Eastern Africa Regional Youth Network (EARYN) is a youth lead network established in 2004 during the final phase of the Global Youth Network, a global initiative of United Nations Office Drug and Crime (UNODC) and World Health Organization (WHO) on primary prevention of substance abuse.
In Kenya, EARYN - Kenya is registered as a NGO and it is focuses on:
1. Building capacity of youth for effective drug abuse, crime & HIV&AIDS prevention.
2. Promoting youth empowerment through skills training and income generating activities as fund development strategy.
3. Developing and disseminating good practices in drug abuse and HIV prevention with a main focus on the youth.

The Taka ni Mali initiative - EARYN Halfway House Aftercare program
In our context, a brief 15 days detoxification programme is sufficient to ensure that over 80% of people using drugs can be gainfully employed and remain employed. Most drug users want to quit, find work and live a productive and healthy live, but these require support for them to achieve the goal. Poverty, unemployment and lack of access to opportunity for development are driving force for drug use and HIV vulnerability in Nairobi.
